Pilot Vehicles
Pilot Vehicle Services
Pilot and escort vehicle coordination for oversize and overmass loads across Brisbane and Queensland — NHVR compliant, fully equipped, and experienced with every major QLD route.
When You Need a Pilot
When Do You Need a Pilot Vehicle in Queensland?
Under NHVR guidelines, pilot vehicles are required for loads exceeding certain dimensions — typically 4.5 metres wide and above. As the width increases, so do the requirements: additional pilot vehicles, restricted travel times, and for the widest loads, police escorts.
We coordinate the right number of pilots based on your load dimensions and route. Every pilot vehicle is fully equipped with warning lights, signs and flags, and operated by an experienced driver who knows the route and the NHVR requirements that apply to your move.
Our Services
Our Pilot Vehicle Services
We provide a full pilot and escort vehicle service for oversize and overmass moves:
- Pilot vehicle hire with experienced operators — our own pilots, not subcontracted strangers.
- Escort vehicle coordination for multi-pilot convoys — front and rear pilots, plus additional escorts for the widest loads.
- NHVR compliant pilot vehicles with warning lights, signs and flags fitted to spec.
- Route planning and surveying — we survey the route for width restrictions, overhead clearances and turning space before the move.
- Coordination with police escorts for very large loads where NHVR guidelines require it.
- Real-time communication during the move — pilots stay in radio contact with the truck driver and each other for the entire run.
